Why I’m Scared of Adapting To Cryptocurrency, Especially on Black Friday

Are you shopping Black Friday sales on cryptocurrency? If so, you are not alone . Bitcoin is now trading at 54K on Black Friday. That sounds promising, but I am terrified moreso of the risks that come with buying the dip on Bitcoin and other forms of crypto. Especially after the crash today : https://www.forbes.com/sites/billybambrough/2021/11/26/be-on-guard-black-friday-crypto-crash-wipes-billions-from-the-price-of-bitcoin-ethereum-bnb-solana-cardano-xrp-and-dogecoin/.

I recently had an expert on crypto, Brett King, the founder of Moven . We had a great conversation starting with the renaming of the Staples Center to Crypto.com Arena. I had questions about America’s Central Bank, the Fed, starting to surveil us through crypto and bitcoin, etc. That would be the end of America and our rights , as far as I can tell.

Brett King told me to ‘separate the politics ‘ and just focus on the benefits of cryptocurrency. While examples he offered of crypto bringing America to a live-able wage, which would be useful considering the record 4.4 million Americans that quit their job in September due to that issue alone. However, a digital wallet leaves the floodgates open to fraud and we already know the Government doesn’t do enough regulation on fraud protection (in my personal opinion). We also know this government is already spying on our banking records of transactions over 600 dollars. What surveillance could crypto truly bring?

I’m also genuinely scared of going cashless as a society, always have been. At the same time, we need to be competitive with China economically again. According to King, they’ve even developed to the point where the Beijing Olympics will be using a MOBILE WALLET only linked to their CENTRAL BANK currency for their transactions. Mr. King believes that cryptocurrency would make us just that. King added, “The US really must modernize their economy. Part of that must be either a Central Bank digital currency or a bastion of cryptocurrency to compete with China, I think that’s really clear.”

While crypto could be very good in creating what we would call a liveable wage and competition, I’m terrified of what would be going on with our data and the possibility of surveillance through Central Bank Currency. That feels like the trade off here to having economic edge on our enemies, and I hope and pray the US Government and consumers choose and think wisely, especially on this Black Friday!

Previewing ‘King Richard’ and The Adaptations Made By the Williams Sisters

On my most recent podcast, sportswriter Cecil Harris discussed with me his interactions with Richard Williams, the father of Venus and Serena. We talked ahead of the release of ‘King Richard ‘, starring Will Smith, about Cecil’s up-close interactions with the real life Williams family.

Cecil also gave us a look at the 76 page plan Richard Williams made to woo coaches and bring his girls up to be tennis superstars. We also discussed how adaptations made by the Williams Sisters were led by ‘King Richard’. Is it possible one man inspired generations of women by just hearing the term The Williams Sisters ? Click the interview link below to find out Cecil’s answer to that one !

The conversation also covered Colin Kaepernick’s Netflix Series , ‘Colin in Black And White’.

Is the Eviction Moratorium A Fair Shake For All?

As a Nee York City lifer, I’ve always enjoyed the apartment life. I loved living in one until the time was right to move with my family to Queens. Yet, as this pandemic winds on, to read reports that tenants are bailing their apartments and skipping out on paying rent , I have to ask if the eviction moratorium is what progressives would like to call a ‘fair share’.

This idea of a fair share should not pertain to just the tenant, it must also pertain to the landlord who is owed the rent every first of the month. To answer whether this Eviction Moratorium is a fair share policy, I turned to Cassin and Cassin , LLP partner Steve Ebert. You can hear Steve Saturday Mornings on Eye on Real Estate with Dottie Herman 10-12 on AM 970 the Answer!

Why My Personal Story Rarely Makes the Podcast

Firstly, despite public opinion, I don’t like talking about my daily life story on my podcast . In fact, I love hearing about what others have to say about the times and the world around us. Hence, when I look for that next big story to cover, I scroll. I scroll furiously in fact!

For those just meeting me and my podcast, I admit I could be more open about rollerblading around New York City on just one leg. That is something everyone seems to want to look at as I just wheel, zone it out, and turn up my headphones. Yet, talking about other big stories is what excites my podcasting palate.

If there was anything I want to be on record for, it’s sharing thoughts on the world around us, not ‘here is how I overcame today’. Quite frankly, very rarely do I feel like I overcome, I just feel like I’m living the best life I can! There are people out there who literally struggle to overcome, it’s those people I want to highlight and then it’s the ones that overcome the most that I want to highlight through interviews and features on ‘Adapting With Alex Garrett’.

So, if I ever am gapped in posting on my blog, it’s because I’m out finding the next adapter to highlight!

On the Sportshour side of Alex Garrett Podcasting, Alex tackles whether records in sports are truly meant to be broken.

Alex shares his thoughts about whether or not the Seaver record is unbreakable like the Joe DiMaggio 56 game hit streak or Cy Young’s 511 wins is unbreakable !

A Summer of Resiliency in 2021

If there was ever a summer of the comeback kids, it’s this one, summer 2021! This comeback kid on wheels is feeling the resilience of America everywhere I roll and on the podcast apps I scroll!

This summer, I just found out the original online talk show I had created, The Sportshour with Alex Garrett , was approved by the iHeartRadio app!

Why this means so much is there were countless times while on air at WQMC Radio at Queens College the ratings meter did not tick up very much. That honestly got into my head a lot more than I’d like to admit! Imagine thinking you are taking to yourself and only thyself?! Yet, I didn’t give up on the show and now it’s on podcast apps all over the place!

Let me say that again: I didn’t give up on the show and now it’s on podcast apps all over the place, under the umbrella of Alex Garrett Podcasting. So if this summer can be realized as a summer of resilience, you TOO can stay resilient!

While we now have to hunker down against the Delta variant, our resilience is needed again and that includes not locking down again! We can weather this storm without shutting down, I freaking feel it!

It’s wild to think seeing my own show on IHeartRadio and some confidence-stilling can inspire staying the course of resiliency . It’s the only way I know how to live by persevering and living through any adversity! It can be done!

A self-created podcast on a podcast app has helped teach me that this summer of the come back kid!
