Adapt For A Better Normal In 2021

I am not sure about you, but I am getting sick and tired of this talk of a ‘new normal.’ It’s never discussed in a positive , forward-looking way.

How can we be expected to adapt to ‘new’, when there is so much doom and gloom around that word.

Yes, forever being masked up anywhere we go is a gloomy thought ! Forever being told by leadership that we will never get back to the good ol’ days is depressing. The fact is we are being vaccinated one by one , in fact it’s over 4 million Americans that have had the vaccine.

Beyond the vaccine, personally speaking since I myself have been quarantined this week due to exposure to COVID (I am feeling fine !) , I believe people are so craving to see each other again , the interactions will be even better than before the pandemic. We might actually be talking to each other more than ever because that gift of socialization has been taken away from us . If we can adapt again once we hit post-pandemic to interacting with each other , I believe we will be beyond a new normal.

We will in fact be in a BETTER normal! So this next chance for interaction, let’s lift our heads out our own thought process or fears of not being responded to, and interact once again with the workd around us! A better normal is what I want to strive for, how about you?

We Are Now Amidst a Scamdemic

Imagine leaning into the idea of a 4 million dollar profit as your state is in the grips of the worst pandemic anyone on this Earth has seen since 1918.

The New York Times , THE TIMES, has the most damning headline I’ve seen since the news of under-reporting started to break . It reads ‘AS CUOMO SOUGHT $4 MILLION BOOK DEAL, AIDES HID DAMAGING DEATH TOLL’. I have written here on this blog before that this is even worse than the Nixon cover-up because those were just tapes, these are DEATHS that have been hidden! Criminality I have to believe. For more on the Times article take a look here, https://www.nytimes.com/2021/03/31/nyregion/cuomo-book-nursing-homes.html

I implore those that truly love Cuomo to this to day to adapt to the idea that once summer hit, NYS went from being in a pandemic to a scamdemic, and the Governor smiled and laughed all the while.

He VISITED other places like Atlanta when he told us all to stay in our homes , dare I say basements. That was a warning sign to me that he really even stopped taking COVID-19 as serious.

He’s not the only one that I feel has scammed us as a nation. I at one point considered welcoming wheelchair-bound NC Congressman Madison Cawthorn because of his comeback story of surviving a major car crash and becoming a Republican US Congressman .

Until I found out he falsified the circumstances around his 2014 crash in a speech at his Christian college. Cawthorn painted himself to have been left for dead after the paralyzing car crash by his friend, Bradley Ledford. Ledford then told his side of the story which had shown Rep. Cawthorn to be Dishonest . Yet, imagine describing a bold faced lie as a harrowing story right into being elected to Represent in Washington , D.C.

Lying about the situation which caused someone to adapt should be called out and held accountable.

It’s one thing to scam your way into government funding by lying about disability, but to intentionally mislead about the circumstances of a disability FOR VOTES is hurtful to those who have to adapt every day to thrive in this world being disabled! Way to be part of the scamdemic, Rep. Cawthorn!

Being a New Yorker the impetus to write this certainly includes Governor Cuomo and the Cuomo cover-up! However, in Florida Rep. Matt Gaetz has found himself in hot water! I feel he too has scammed his constituents into believing he is this hard-working family man.

For a 30+ year old man to be proudly stating he’s been a church-goer to be even entertaining idea of palling around with a 17 yr old is quite alarming. Thankfully this had not happened while with his fiancée . However, by not showing any kind of discipline with this relationship, his behavior contributes to the scamdemic of leaders not doing as they say.

Albeit, personal lives are never going to be an issue on the ballot and these lives of public figures will take their course as they may. I do think Cuomo policy of re-stating nursing home patients with COVID is a huge story that this Gaetz saga will now kick to the side, and that’s not right either!

In all of these examples, for us the average citizen and busy voter/taxpayer, we must find a way out of this scamdemic and I think the best way is to ALWAYS ASK QUESTIONS!

Greeting from Garrett on the Go: Adapting to Things You Are Unsure Of

Sometimes it feels immature to not know a certain exact thing about a topic and then I realize I’m only 30 and having conversation about topics I may not know about makes things better.

What do you feel you learn daily about yourself to adapt to the life around you?

Snow = Survival

As you could see above, I put my boot in the snow as a stake of victory against the latest snowstorm that battered New York City!

Many who already have battled lockdown, just felt that this storm was a pile-on to the stay-at-home life.

For me, working in radio during snow is ALWAYS an adventure. Weathering the storm in studio or at a hotel just blocks away, there is always this adventure of being IN THE STORM. Being in that storm this week , I felt a sense of accomplishment !

While rollerblading may seem like the ultimate adaption for many that are looking into my world from the outside, those who know me know how intense it feels when that skate is unusable in the snow.

I feel smaller , like my 4’11’’ height and a lot more human ! Working on crutches and a boot navigating the ice and snow has always felt like a big deal, because it’s the time I actually have to be mindful of staying grounded on foot. No one wants to fall in the snow!

Snowstorm 2021 taught me that if I can weather the storm on crutches and boot, I can conquer and accomplish anything in this life! Sometimes even I need a boost in my motivation, and every step I took in my boot, every time I looked down at the ground to see I just pushed through another snow patch , I felt this feeling that I can do anything!

I hope as life is fragile as it is, we stop fussing over cars stuck in snowy traffic and just celebrate getting back home , sheltered from the storm and safe as possible! I celebrated by doing more on this through my podcast on how snow truly is my survival skill!
